Welcome to the Author Resources page! Here you’ll find everything you need to make the most of your Cheep Boox membership. Firstly, do ensure you download the bonuses on your account page. If you need help using either spreadsheet, just ask in the Facebook group.

As we build up our newsletter list with readers hungry for your books, we’ll be in prelaunch mode. That means the paid promos won’t be available to purchase until we have a minimum number of subscribers to make it viable to promote through.

In the meantime, you’ll have the opportunity to joint venture with us to have your lead magnet promoted in the newsletter. Once we’ve launched, if you want to promote your lead magnet in our CheepBoox newsletter, you can certainly do that.

Getting Started

As a Cheep Boox author, you have access to a variety of tools and services to help promote your books and connect with more readers. The first one you should check out is the Cover Brightener. As a graphic designer, I’m over brightening covers up before publishing them in my newsletter, so I got this tool made for those that don’t usually bother. It’s quick and easy. Give it a go!

Book Blast Events – Join our regular book blast events to get maximum exposure and downloads for your titles. Please join the next one right now.
🚀What Is a Book Blast? A massive FREE book promotion event where hundreds of authors promote simultaneously, driving huge traffic to this site where readers browse and select books by genre from Amazon set to free on the day. It generates hundreds of downloads of your book, conservatively speaking. I’ve been in events where I’ve had thousands of downloads of my steamy romance book. The more authors that participate, the wider the reach to multiple audiences.

Pro tip: If you have 5 days available, set it to free in KDP for the full 5 days starting the day before the event and keep an eye on your best selling rank in the free section of your book’s genres for those days 😉

Believe me, once you participate in one of these events, you’ll be hooked! They’re addictive because the benefits far outweigh the effort. I’ve seen a few around but some of them have restrictive rules, like no AI, and we’ll not have that attitude here thank you. However, I do agree that the more professional your book cover looks, the better.

I’ve purposely set the events to the first of the month to set the tone for the rest of the month. I’ve just found that when I start the month with a literal promo bang, the rest follows accordingly.

I just want to do that without paying out an arm and a leg. I already know you do too, (unless you’re a best-selling author, in which case, thank you for being here.)

I’ve had great results from promos, but none yet that have created a profit. It’s like going to a casino and knowing you didn’t make any money that night overall, but you had a great time! And yes, like many indie authors, I haven’t been publishing for very long, so I’m still growing and still mainly in the lower royalty bracket for my book’s pricing.

🧲Lead Magnets – List your free reader magnets to grow your mailing list. When someone clicks on your book cover, they’ll be taken to your subscribe landing page, and then, they’ll have the option to follow you on Amazon. We’re hoping this will increase your followers dramatically over time. You’ll be able to check the statistics to see how many readers have clicked on your follow link in the Promo History page at the end.

📚Authors Directory – Your public author profile visible to readers. Go to My Account and View Profile in the right hand menu to update your details that you used when you signed up.

Make sure your Amazon author page link is set in your profile as it will display to anyone who downloads your free lead magnet 😉We all read books right! Make sure you take time out to try our BookPulse system and download some lead magnets for yourself. Try out some new genres for a change! I’m loving the variety we’ve got here.

Ensure your book covers aren’t too dark. Sure, if it’s a dark romance and you want it dark on purpose, leave it dark. But others just need brightening a bit and it makes a world of difference! Simply use our Cover Brightener to lighten your image if it needs it.

Tips for Success

Amazon reports that A+ content Produces 8% to 20% more sales. This means once you have that done for each book you can make up to 20% more on every advertising dollar you spend. Access A+ through KDP, Marketing and add content for each book. Don’t forget to use the comparison charts too and add tropes as the comparison factor 😉
Keep an eye on your Amazon followers numbers and promote yourself in your back matter, website and newsletters. Every Amazon follower is notified whenever you release a new book. We’re going to help you increase those follower numbers. (Check out the stats at the bottom of the Promo History page.)
Keep your author profile up to date, participate in book blast events regularly, and make sure your book listings have compelling descriptions and eye-catching covers that people can read.
The more active you are in the Cheep Boox Facebook group community, the more visibility your books will receive! Use it to your advantage by asking readers questions or see if anyone wants to join your ARC team. Have a group promo to send out? Do it. Just put it out there and get them engaging. We’re not going to be one of those groups that don’t allow anything. (Except vanity marketers harassing authors of course.)

Recommended Programs

Need more reviews? I highly recommend this program. List your first book, then when it’s approved the next day, subscribe to the top tier. Then you can apply for verified, ARC, KU, Goodreads, video or unverified reviews from members.

Need more insights during your journey? Olivia Paisley Troy is a wonderful author with experience she’s happy to share. I’ve subscribed to her program that I highly recommend for several months and she over-delivers with valuable insight, links to groups, book fairs, award opportunities and so much more. Well worth the cost, which is less than a cup of coffee.

Do you send out a newsletter yet? You’re going to need a robust program to handle your needs. I highly recommend this program and have been using it for the past year. They continue to improve their services over time.

Are you doing ad swaps with other authors? Keep that up because it’s one of the best ways to get your book out to readers of the right genres. I highly recommend this program, which is a newer, improved version of what you’re probably used to which seems to have technical issues more often these days.
